The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been a big fan of chlorine dioxide since 1967. According to the EPA, oral ingestion of low doses of aqueous ClO2 (chlorine dioxide) in drinking water is not associated with significant adverse effects (EPA September 2020).
